If you want to give Mother Nature a hand, work on toning the pectoral muscles that lie beneath the breasts. Old fashioned push-ups are a great way to tone your pecs. Another useful exercise is curling your fingers into claws and interlocking them at the level of your breasts. Then pull back hard with each arm as if you were trying to pry your hands a part. You’ll feel the pull in your arms, shoulders, and chest.

Women tend to be very unhappy with their butts anyway, and a little excess fat can spark a major panic attack. Luckily, the buttocks are made up of muscle, so dieting while toning can give you some pretty dramatic results. Two of the best exercises for toning the butt are the squat and the lunge. To do the squat, stand with your back straight, your feet shoulder-width apart, and squat until your knees are bent at a 90-degree angle and your upper legs are parallel to the floor. If you’re balance is bad, you can stand with your back to a wall for support. The lunge starts from the same position (back straight, feet shoulder-width apart). Then lunge forward with one foot until the knee is bent at a ninety degree angle. Keep the back leg straight. Hold the position for five seconds and then repeat with the other foot.

Most of us aren’t genetically programmed to have the six-pack abs of movies stars, but dieting while toning your abdominal muscles will still give you a look to be proud of. The best toning move for abs is the dreaded crunch. Lie on your back on the floor or a mat with your hands behind your head and your knees bent. Use your abdominal muscles to crunch upward. Try to imagine your belly button touching your spine as you hold the crunch for five seconds and then release. If you have access to one, a rowing machine is also a wonderful toning device for abs as well as for pecs and legs.
Dieting alone can help get the access fat off your body, but it can’t whip those muscles into shape. Dieting while toning offers you the best chance of getting and keeping the body you want.
