I must admit, I had actually never even heard of apricot kernels until earlier this year. I had no idea what they were. Actually they are only the stones or seeds from within an apricot.
We have all heard of apricots, but normally all we see of apricot kernels is after we have eaten the apricot when we throw it out!
But, apricot kernal can be amazing for your health.
The main reason apricot kernels are so good for you is that they are very high in b 17 vitamin. Many foods have vitamin b17 in them, but not so much in the current western diet. On top of this apricot kernels are particularly high in the vitamin, and this is why you should include them into your diet.
Vitamin B 17 has been linked to helping to prevent cancer. Up until now, there have been no concrete studies to prove this, and there has been a lot of controvercial legal arguments about whether apricot kernels can be sold as a “cancer cure”, but nevertheless, there are plenty of people who swear by eating apricot kernels.
As any nutritionist will tell you, it is very important to eat a healthy balanced diet, you shouldn’t just rely on just a few foods for your nutrition. But it is also particularly important to watch your diet with apricot kernels.
There are two types of apricot kernels you can get. With the standard ones, you can have as much as 150g each day, but there is also a bitter apricot kernel that you can get. It is only recommended to eat 2 or 3 kernels daily of the bitter ones
It’s important not to eat more than this, because despite the fact that apricot kernels are so nutritious, they also contain cyanide which is poisonous. This is not anything to worry about if you eat normal amounts, but this is why you have to be careful.
Another food that has been linked to maybe helping with cancer is goji. They are packed to the brim with antioxidants which is what makes them a cancer fighting food also.
